The Night a Moth Stopped a Giant
The year is 1947. Inside a humming laboratory at Harvard, a giant machine towers over the room. The Harvard Mark II, with its endless rows of relays and wires, is the crown jewel of modern technology - a mechanical brain unlike anything the world has ever seen.

The engineers gather, watching its lights flicker, listening to its rhythmic clicks. Suddenly… silence. The machine falters. The calculations stop. The room holds its breath.

Whispers ripple: A fuse? A relay? Is the giant broken?
They open the panels, expecting scorched wires or shattered parts.Could a wire have burned out? Was a relay jammed? The air was thick with the anxiety of losing precious hours of work.
And then—there it is.
Not a broken circuit. Not a failed design.
But a moth. A small, fragile moth, trapped in Relay #70, its tiny body shorting out the mighty Mark II.

The tension breaks into laughter. Grace Hopper, the brilliant officer overseeing the project, orders the insect to be taped into the logbook. Beside it, the team scrawls the words that will echo through history:

"First actual case of bug being found."

That logbook page, moth and all, still rests today in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

That single moment gave birth to a term every coder still uses today: “bug” and "debugging."

And so, history remembers: in the battle of man, machine, and nature… sometimes, the smallest creature can write the biggest story.
