He was also CEO & Promoter Director, University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation – a Section 8 Company, and Director, University Business Incubation and Innovation Centre, University of Jammu. Earlier, he served as Coordinator, National Innovation and Start-up Policy and as President, Institution Innovation Council, University of Jammu—an Innovation Cell under the Ministry of HRD, Government of India initiative. He has also served as Dean, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, India, and as a Member of the Task Force for the Implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, Government of Jammu & Kashmir. Presently, he is Co-Leader of the Organizing Committee of the UNWTO Affiliate Members Working Group on Tourism & Culture Synergies. He also serves as Regional Director – Asia and Eastern Europe for CED – World Centre of Excellence for Destinations (UNWTO AffiliateMember) and as Advisor to Total Synergy Consulting Private Limited (TSCPL). Earlier, he was a Fellow of the Australia India Institute, New Delhi, President– Commerce Management Association of India (CMAI), and a Member of the Tourism Advisory Board of the State of Jammu & Kashmir, which was headed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the State.
He has been a Visiting Professor at Taylor’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, and Honorary Visiting Professor at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship, Jawaharlal Nehru University (ABVSM&E). He has also served as a Visiting Professor at the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM), Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Zhubanov State University of Aktobe, Aktobe, Republic of Kazakhstan; Bashkir State University, Ufa, Bashkortostan, Russia; and the Graduate School of Business, ESAN University, Lima, Peru.
Prof. Parikshat earned his PhD in Brand Positioning Strategies from the University of Jammu. He holds an MBA from the University of Jammu, India, and a Master’s degree in Tourism Management from IGNOU, New Delhi. Since 2001, he has been teaching Internet Marketing, Brand Management, Destination Management, Innovation and Marketing Management at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as Tourism Research Development to PhD and other research scholars at the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and The Business School, University of Jammu. His research interests include Tourism, Recreation and Hospitality Management; Education and Marketing; Sustainable and Responsible Tourism; Brand Management; Post-Conflict Tourism and Peace-Building Strategies (Revival Tourism); Film-Induced Tourism; And Destination Marketing.
Prof. Parikshat was the runner-up for the Institute of Hospitality – Education Research Award, 2016, at the EuroCHRIE Conference held in Budapest. He has been awarded major projects as Project Leader under the UK–India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) Thematic Partnerships Scheme during 2015 and 2017. He was a Commonwealth Fellow for the year 2014, a Hungarian Faculty Research Fellow in 2013 under the Indo-Hungarian Educational Exchange Programme (2012–13), and a Shastri Indo-Canadian Fellow in 2009. In the same year, he received the Career Award for Best Young Teacher (CAYT) from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. He has also been awarded major research projects by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
Dr. Parikshat is an Editorial Board Member of Regional Statistics, a journal of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, Hungary, and the Asia-Pacific Journal of Innovation in Hospitality and Tourism, Taylor’s University, Malaysia. He has also served as an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education (JHTE), the Journal of Management and Sustainability, the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Cases (JHTC) of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (ICHRIE), and the TEAM (Tourism Educators Association of Malaysia) Journal of Hospitality and Tourism.
He was also a Member of the Advisory Council for the Centre for Research and Innovation (CRiT), Taylor’s University, Malaysia (2016–2018). Dr. Parikshat has served as a Board Member of the Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (APacCHRIE) and as a Member of the Research Committee and Education Committee of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (ICHRIE). He has been a Member of the Boards of Studies of various universities across the world and also served as a Member of the All India Board of Hospitality and Tourism Management (AIB–HTM) of AICTE. He has authored 10 books and more than 150 research papers published in journals, edited volumes, and conference proceedings.
